As often as possible you will find new recipes, that I have found on the internet, from others and some that are family favorites. Most are easy and use common ingredients found in most kitchens. Not all pictures are taken by me, but I do add my own pictures as soon as I can after I have made the recipe and remember to take the picture. Barley Bake

 BARLEY BAKE: 
6 servings

Ingredients:
-1 medium onion, chopped 
-1 cup medium pearl barley 
-1/2 cup slivered almonds or 1/2 cup chopped almonds 
-1/4 cup margarine or 1/4 cup butter or 2tsp of canola oil 
-3 teaspoons dried (or fresh) parsley flakes 
-1/4 teaspoon black pepper 
-1/4 teaspoon salt 
-2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans beef broth 

Step 1: In a skillet, over medium heat, saute' the barley, onion, and almonds in the butter until lightly browned. **
Step 2: Transfer to a 2 quart baking dish.
Step 3: Add the parsley, pepper and salt; stir to mix.
Step 4: Add the broth, stir to mix.

Step 5: Bake in the oven at 350 for 1 hour and 15 minutes, until the barley is tender and the liquid is absorbed.

** I leave out the almonds.
